✅ What the feature is: Amazon Pay now lets users authorize UPI payments using biometric authentication. You can verify a payment with your fingerprint or face scan instead of entering a UPI PIN.
✅ Transaction Limit: This PIN-free method applies to payments up to ₹5,000 per transaction. For amounts above ₹5,000, you will still need to enter your traditional UPI PIN.
✅ Where it works: The biometric option is available across common UPI flows on Amazon Pay — peer-to-peer transfers, Scan & Pay, merchant checkout, and balance checks.
✅ How it improves payments: It reduces friction and speeds up payments since you don’t have to remember or enter your PIN every time. Because biometric data stays on your device (not sent to servers), it can be more secure than a PIN that someone else could see or guess.
✅ Rollout and Availability: The feature is currently live in India for many Android devices via the Amazon Pay app. It’s part of a broader trend where UPI apps are adding biometric authentication in line with NPCI standards.
